Hi, Yelpers. I've recently switched insurance and so have a whole new network to deal with. Yippee. Can anyone recommend either a primary care physician (general practice/family medicine--you know--just a "doctor") and/or a gynecologist in Columbia/Ellicott City area?

For the latter, unless you rave about him, I prefer a woman. Not prudish, I just figure it's good to have someone who can empathize with "girl things."

Thanks!

Do you have a specific preference as to location?  If DC, Chevy Chase or McLean works for you, Reiter & Hill.  Just ask for Drs. Nevin or Radecki or Noelle.  http://www.yelp.com/bi...

For my Gynecologist, I go to see Dr. Tracy Duke through Capital Women's Care.  It's all women doctors there, and from what I've heard, they're all good.  It's tricky to make appointments sometimes because they are so popular, but I love Dr. Duke.  Such a good bedside manner.  They have a branch at St. Joseph's hospital, and a branch in Bel Air.  Their information from the website is below:

2103 Laurel Bush Road, Suite B
Bel Air, MD 21015
Phone: (410) 515-7600
Fax: (410)-515-6557
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm

7505 Osler Drive Suite 402
Towson, MD 21204
(410) 339-7447  is the other office

For a GYN I go to Dr. Margaret Alexander in Bethesda.  The house-turned-office is really nice and the staff is really friendly.  Appointment for a regular exam is when available because she specializes in gynecological oncology, but the doctor gives the actual exam so it's nice.

Search function--"doctor" or "gynocologist" near your address. Get the opinion of hundreds of people rather than just a few. That's the purpose and power of Yelp!

Perhaps even more useful would be to use your insurance company website to get the names of doctors near you who are actually covered by your plan. Then plug those names into the Search field to get people's opinions of those doctors.

As for Primary Care, you can use Patient First. They are all over the place and no appointment needed. They can do x-rays and bloodwork on-site.
